I work in theatre because of a brilliant drama teacher I had at school in Crawley, West Sussex. She took me to see Archaos (the crazy French rule-breaking circus) in a tent in Battersea and Glenda Jackson in Brecht’s Mother Courage at the National Theatre and I thought; ‘I’d like to be part of that’. She suggested I carry on my studies at Dartington College of Arts. I did, and whilst running around that beautiful campus in the heart of Devon, sometimes painted silver, I developed my love of all things experimental.

Then I met some folk who made shows about football and other favourite popular past times of mine. They helped me understand that theatre can be relevant to people who wouldn’t normally dream of stepping into an auditorium. After that I found myself part of an arts centre in Battersea trying to make theatre that pushes at the boundaries between an audience and theatre. And now I co-run Fuel. Can’t wait to see what happens next.
