HOME

HOME – the place where one lives, a dwelling house, one’s family background, the native land of a person or a person’s ancestors, an institution for persons needing care, rest or refuge, the place where a thing originates or is native or is most common, the finishing point in a race.

The National Theatre of Scotland has commissioned ten of our best theatre directors to create ten pieces of theatre around the theme of HOME, widely thought of as the most evocative word in the English Language. Each director will present their own unique vision of home, working together with artists and local communities and drawing inspiration from their surroundings.

Together they will turn the whole of the Scotland into their theatre. Over one night. In what we believe is a truly unique event, we invite you to join us in forests, ferries, shopfronts, factories, museums, tenements and tower blocks.

NTS opening night will be unforgettable. It will be for children, young people, and not so young people. It will be free. It will be a celebration of theatre and a celebration for Scotland.
