Black T-shirt Collection Competition at ARC

Posted: 21/09/12

ARC, Stockton Arts Centre is updating its wardrobe, and is giving YOU the chance to design a T-shirt based on an award-winning performance from ARC’s autumn season.

From Fringe First winner Inua Ellams comes Black T-shirt Collection, a story about building a global T-shirt brand. It follows the journey from a market in Nigeria to a sweatshop in China and the consequences of success.

“They played wild with those shirts, some held together by wooden pins, some strung to wear just once, some of long thin detachable sleeves, some stitched entirely of leaves”.

ARC is looking for a T-shirt design which best reflects Black T-shirt Collection and the roots of the story. You can find more information online at

All entries must be no larger than A4 in size and should be saved as Jpegs (high resolution). Email your design to Kelly France, Marketing Manager, at

Closing date: Monday 1 October at 5pm.

ARC will work alongside Inua Ellams and Fuel Theatre to decide on the entry which reflects the show in the most original way.

The winner will be announced at the performance on Thursday 12 October, 7.30pm. The winning design will be made into a T-shirt and will be presented to the winner by Inua Ellams on the night of the show. The winner will also receive a £30 iTunes voucher.

All entries will be displayed on the night of the performance in ARC’s exhibition space – invite your friends and family to see your work in the hall of fame. All entrants will also be given discounted tickets to the show for the chance to be part of the audience and find out who the lucky winner is first hand.

Good luck!
